Zipline Operator
National News: On 22 April, the attack by terrorists in Basaron in Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir raised many serious questions on the security system and the role of local citizens. When the terrorists were firing bullets, the behavior of a zipline operator was not only suspicious, but he created a strange situation in his response, which raises the question whether he was already aware of the terrorists' attack or was somehow involved in these incidents. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has started investigating the case intensively regarding this suspicious incident.
During the attack of terrorists in Basaron's Zipline area, a zipline operator, Muzammil Ahmed, was getting tourists riding zipline. Tourist Rishi Kumar and his family came from Gujarat to visit Kashmir. Rishi Kumar said in his statement that when the sound of bullets was heard, he understood that something was getting serious. But the operator neither tried to take tourists to a safe place nor gave any kind of warning. Instead, he raised the slogan of "Allah Hu Akbar" thrice, which cannot be a symbol of general behavior, being a terrorist attack.Rishi Kumar said, "Despite the sound of bullets, the operator did not give any response, and motivated me to move forward. He did not tell us that we should go to a safe place or take some action to avoid the attack." This behavior was clearly suspicious, and the sage recorded it in the video, which later came to the fore as a significant evidence in the case.
Muzammil Ahmed said in his clarification that the sound of bullets was coming from far away and he habitually raised the slogan "Allah Hu Akbar". He said that he felt that this was a normal event and he took this step as a custom. But keeping in mind the statement and video of Rishi Kumar, the credibility of this cleanliness raises questions. If a person maintains such a normal situation in the midst of a terrorist attack, was he conscious and responsible for his duties?NIA action
Given the seriousness of the incident, the NIA started investigating the case and detained 6 people, 5 of which shot a video of the incident. The question also arises that if these videos were handed over to police or security agencies quickly, could some steps be taken before the attack? The NIA is now questioning these videos as well as those who took any action during the attack. Security agencies believe that the purpose of hiding these videos may be to hide a large conspiracy.
This incident is not only of the activists' actions, but it also examines the local people and their behavior. People working on a tourist destination like Pahalgam, especially a zipline operator, who have to be in direct contact with the tourists, their responsibility increases. If he does not take the right steps during the attack, the question arises whether they are able to ensure security in such situations?
The NIA has questioned not only the zipline operator, but also local hotel operators, service providers and those who recorded videos at the time of the attack but they did not try to inform the security agencies about the attack. This situation highlights some serious shortcomings in the security system of Kashmir. Do local people or businessmen remain silent despite being aware of terrorist activities? Are they unknowingly or deliberately becoming helpful in support of terrorists?
The incident has made the need for security strategies to deal with terrorism in Kashmir even more important. Despite the efforts of the security forces, the awareness and readiness of the local people should also be strengthened. If this zipline operator had taken the right steps in time, the impact of this attack could have been reduced. This incident also proves that not only the security force, but every section of the society will have to be ready to face this crisis to fight terrorism. Such incidents not only highlight the challenges of local security, but also reflect the security concerns of the entire country.
